3/9/39 | Technical Officer evacuated 5 Commer trucks and 4 Morris Portee trucks from Lex Garage to HQ. 1650 - Message from London District announcing that war has broken out with Germany. 4 Panther MCs taken on strength. |
5/9/39 | 2000 - Urgent telegram received from 2/Genlondiv saying no unit to move out of London to billets until they have received orders from HQ 2/Genlon div. |
6/9/39 | 1050 - Staff Captain from 2nd London Division rang up the CO and gave authority for 4th CLY to move out of London to billets. 1200 - 1700hrs 4 CLY moved into billets at St. Margaret's School, Bushy, Herts. |

15/9/39 | 1920 - Brigade Major rang up to mount a guard of 2 NCOs and 6 men at the SAAD WATCHET. 2130 - 2Lt Martin Smith (Oi/c SAAD guard) rang up and said that he had been told by the Camp Commandant that the above guard was unnecessary and that the Commandant would write to the Brigadier to this effect. |
